Sunday 12th of October 2025

A 14km timed head race for coxed boats of all sizes that takes crews out of the Town Basin, past the wharves and superyacht bases for 7.5km and then back past the airport, wetland sanctuary and scenic reserve to finish under the distinctive Te Matau a Pohe, all on a high tide in springtime.

​​​​​​​The event is being held on the same day as the Whangarei Maritime Festival so come along and enjoy the fun.

Safety briefing 8.30am

Racing starts approx. 10.00am

PRIZES - Prizes for 'Fastest Boat', 'Third Slowest Boat' and the 'Boat closest to the average across all boats.
