From the Club Captain - Spencer Nichols
With 60-70 active rowers competing at junior, club and masters levels the club is always looking for experienced or potential rowers, coxswains and coaches.
Rowing is a demanding and rewarding sport. It caters for all ages and provides opportunities to compete against other athletes from throughout New Zealand. Currently the club has members aged from 13 - 78 years. Anyone considering rowing as a new sport and wants to joint our club, needs to:
- be able to swim 50 metres
- have a reasonable level of fitness
- a willingness to learn and a positive attitude
- be comfortable in small boats
Every year the club introduces a small group of novice rowers to the sport during the winter training period (April-Sept) in readiness to compete in the upcoming season commencing in October.
Junior Level - Year 9-13
Club Level - Late teens to adult
Masters Level - 27 - 85!!
Coxswains and Coaches
The club is always keen to talk to people interested in being a coach or a cox. Both roles are vital to the success of a rowing club and present great opportunities for leadership and personal development.
